I cannot wait to see these in the garden as spring approaches. Their flitters and flutters and utter beauty keep me smiling all day. It won't be long, and I shall wait anxiously, yet patiently, to see the gentle shimmer of light on those graceful and resplendent wings.

A Literary Garden

I just received my first copy of Greenwoman Magazine. It is a great read full of fiction, poetry, and essays with a nature and gardening theme.

Publisher, Sandra Knauf, describes it as a literary garden. It is all that and more. I am really enjoying the read.

A New Winter Photograph

With winter, there are new discoveries out in the field of nature. On a winter walk, I found this dried wildflower opening its petals. I thought it represented winter so much I am using it as the header for the season.

 150 Things You Can Compost

I have been composting for over 25 years, adding many things that would normally go in the landfill into my compost pile. I teach composting classes as a Master Gardener, and it became clear to me that it would be helpful to have a book that detailed many of the things that can go in the compost pile.

So many things we use in our lives each day can be composted if they are from an organic source, such as pizza boxes or cotton towels. And all of these things create a nutrient rich fertilizer for the garden from within the compost pile.
